Captain Job Description Primary Duties / Responsibilities: * The health and safety of all personnel, protection of the marine environment and the safety and security of the vessel. * Overall management and operation of the vessel in conjunction with the Chief Engineer and Superintendent. * Enforcement of Company policies (Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Policies), statutory rules and regulations, as well as local rules and regulations where applicable. * The safe navigation of the vessel and the planning and conducting of voyages in a safe manner. * Ensuring that all navigational charts, publications and information are available and maintained up to date (Note: the Captain may delegate this responsibility). * Issuing clear and simple orders to ensure safe vessel operations. * Making sure that specific knowledge and experience is communicated to and shared with all people in the department. * Training and improving the skills of the vessel's DP Operators (DP Vessels o...
