The Beaumont RCSI Partnership Lung Outreach Programme represents a landmark €4.9 million euro to be invested across the Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre, with 5 key pillars - one of which is liquid biopsy implementation. The overarching goal of this grant is to transform the outcomes for patients with lung cancer in Ireland through early detection, novel diagnostics and biological discoveries. Through this partnership, we have secured funding for a clinical scientist to lead the implementation of Ireland's first comprehensive solid tumour liquid biopsy programme. This will involve investigation of commercially available liquid biopsy assays, in-house validation and testing of clinical samples. The Clinical Scientist will play a critical role in establishing and operating the clinical use of the liquid biopsy for patients diagnosed with cancer within the Molecular Pathology Laboratory, which is ISO15189 accredited and based between Beaumont Hospital and RCSI and will c...
