Highways Maintenance Operative

This is a full‑time permanent role. Working hours are 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (with 3:30 pm finish on Friday) and occasional night shift. The position offers a competitive salary and overtime.
Our NMC NE Account, awarded in 2022, supports Transport Scotland and will deliver improved service levels to the trunk road network. Work includes maintenance, road safety, bridges and structures and discrete improvement schemes, with a focus on climate change and sustainability targets.
Highways Maintenance Operatives are essential for maintaining safe and efficient roads, reducing accidents, and ensuring smooth traffic flow. Their work minimises vehicle emissions, prevents flooding and keeps roads clear during winter. They also pick litter to enhance environments and public spaces.
