Laborer

Summary This position is located at a Department of Veterans Affairs facility. The incumbent of this position performs as a Laborer requiring moderately heavy physical effort. The work requires the use of common hand tools and simple power equipment. Responsibilities Lifting and moving moderately heavy objects such as furniture and equipment by hand, hand truck or dolly; maintaining grounds using manual equipment to fill holes, rake leaves, or dig ditches; using simple powered equipment such push lawn mowers, edgers, trimmers, etc., to maintain grounds; collecting and emptying garbage cans. Stripes parking lots, utilizing a gasoline-powered striping machine; shovels snow; and performs other related duties as assigned. Skill in using basic hand tools and operating simple power equipment. Ability to understand simple instructions. Sufficient manual skill and physical ability to safely operate required tools and work with heavy objects.
