As an Organic Chemist Industrial Postdoc at altM, the candidate will work at the intersection of biomass valorization, catalysis, and applied organic synthesis to develop high-value molecules from renewable feedstocks. The role involves identifying promising molecular targets from biomass fractions such as cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, and extractives, and designing catalytic pathways for their conversion into commercially relevant chemicals and materials. The candidate will be responsible for independently planning and executing laboratory reactions, optimizing conditions, and ensuring strict adherence to organic chemistry protocols and safety standards. This includes handling multi-step synthesis, functional group transformations, substitutions, purification, product isolation, and preliminary analytical characterization using standard laboratory techniques.
